What is Acne and How Does It Affect You?
We’re all aware of it, which is why we’re here. But, just to be clear, acne or pimples are inflammations of the skin’s hair follicles. Acne develops when these hair follicles get blocked by oil from our sebaceous glands, dead skin cells, debris, or germs.
What are the causes?
Each pore on your skin is the entrance to an oil and hair-producing follicle. For us to maintain healthy skin, this oil (sebum) is essential. However, it might occasionally be the cause of our acne.
The following are the most common causes of acne:
- Sebum (excess oil) generated by hair follicles
- Dead skin cells obstruct hair follicles
- Bacteria has accumulated in your pores.
Aside from this, you’ll be surprised to learn that Hormones and Heredity are also responsible for roughly 80% of Acne cases. This implies that if one of your parents had a bad experience with acne in their adolescence or adulthood, you are quite likely to have it as well.
Food and stress levels in your life might also be factors.
We’ve all heard that junk food and chocolate are to blame for your acne. However, this is not the case! Yes, you read it correctly.
Dark chocolate, in fact, has been shown to improve skin because of its bioactive ingredients, which may help protect your skin from UV damage, have detoxifying and anti-aging characteristics, and improve blood flow to the skin. However, for health reasons, it is still prudent to avoid junk food.
Dairy products and diets heavy in processed sugar, on the other hand, may often cause acne. As a result, it’s best to begin avoiding them gradually to determine whether your skin responds favorably.
It will be much simpler to cure acne now that you understand the reasons.
Here are a few home remedies for clearing up acne quickly. And I’m not exaggerating! These are effective. You could be surprised as well!
Acne does not go away in an hour, half-day, or overnight. It just cannot be done. Especially the colossal ones. You can still minimize their redness and make them seem 10 times smaller, but don’t anticipate miracles. But, fingers crossed, if you have minor acne or acne that is on the rise, they will work wonders!
How to Quickly Get Rid of Acne
Ice Cubes-
It may seem that rubbing ice cubes is an easy task, but hello? We’re talking about skincare here. Nothing is easy in this town.
To begin, wash your face with your preferred face wash as you typically would. Then wrap an ice cube in a large paper towel or cloth. If you don’t want to deal with the mess that melting ice would make, you may use a cold compress instead.
Also, at 1-minute intervals, lay ice cubes on the pimple. This will aid in the prevention of tissue injury. What’s the greatest part? This may be done in the morning, evening, or numerous times during the day, depending on your requirements. But keep in mind that cleaning your skin first is essential.
This strategy has shown to be the most effective depending on the size of the pimple. Every shot was well worth it! Additionally, it helps your pores seem smaller!
Aloe Vera + Tea Tree Oil-
Who hasn’t heard of these mysterious ingredients? This is the one combination I would choose on a whim if I wanted to get rid of acne overnight.
Tea tree oil has a Ph.D. in battling acne and is antiseptic, antifungal, and antibacterial. Aloe vera is the greatest choice for treating acne, soothing skin, and combating blemishes. Not to mention, Aloe vera offers a slew of additional aesthetic advantages.
Both substances may be used as a spot treatment on their own. However, I believe that if taken alone, Tea Tree oil may be quite powerful, drying, and harsh. And I haven’t found aloe vera gel to be effective in clearing up my acne quickly.
Why not dilute tea tree oil with aloe vera since we have to dilute it anyway? Sounds like a promising concept!
What is the best way to utilize it? Combine 2-3 drops of Tea Tree oil and half a spoon of aloe vera gel in a small mixing bowl. Cleanse your face well before using the mixture as a spot treatment. If you wish to, leave it overnight or for at least 30-60 minutes.
I’m telling you, sweetie, this works!
Lemon and honey-
Hello, Honey!
You’ve probably heard of these two acne-fighting chemicals, right? Honey, which is known for its natural antibacterial and soothing properties, may aid in the treatment of acne. Due to the drying actions of citric acid, lemon may readily aid in the reduction of sebum. Its antiseptic effects may also destroy germs.
However, directly putting lemon or lemon juice to your face is not a good idea. It may be quite abrasive and cause major skin damage. Honey may not be very effective on its own. As a result, merging them makes perfect sense. After all, combating acne quickly is the topic of the day!
What is the best way to utilize it? To a spoonful of honey, add 5-6 drops of lemon juice. After cleansing your skin, apply just to the pimples. Leave it for at least 30-60 minutes or overnight. Get your acne under control, gal!
Peeled Banana-
My favorite fruit is the banana. Because it’s simple to do, hahaha. So, I came upon a 5-minute DIY video about banana hacks one day. Aren’t we aware that they don’t work?
But this one, to my surprise, did. It not only helped diminish acne, but it also left nearly no scar. Before I go any further, I should point out that this will not work for huge pimples. Only the little ones are still growing.
Cleanse your skin and carefully apply the peel to your acne. Allow at least 30 minutes or overnight to complete the process. Later, wash it with tap water.
Please let me know if this works for you; I’m skeptical, but it did for me, so it’s on the list!
Bag of Green Tea-
The one thing I despise drinking but like for acne. Green tea might help you get rid of pimples quickly. Green tea has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties, to name a few. Everything acne despises (is that it vanishes)!
So, in a cup of water, insert a green tea bag and freeze it for 15-20 minutes, then gently apply the cold tea bag on the pimples at 1-minute intervals.
This works similarly to ice cubes, but with the added advantage of green tea.
Aztec Clay mud mask-
Now, I understand that this is not a DIY that you can perform at home, but this gem mud mask works wonders for acne-prone skin.
But if you have a bit more time than that, I’m certain this will work. I’ve been using this mask for over a year, and believe me when I say that if you have severe acne (not acne cysts), you’ll notice VISIBLE changes within only a week!
In a plastic or non-metal dish, combine 1-1.5 tbsp. Apple cider Vinegar (for optimum results) or water and 1 tbsp. Clay. Apply for 15-20 minutes rigorously.
Acne Patches-
If you’ve ever had acne, you know how it feels to have a pimple that you can’t touch. We’re so unfortunate!
But there are instances when I know I can’t take risks with DIY home treatments to get rid of acne quickly and I need to stick to something more reliable.
In such case, pimple patches come in helpful. I’ve been using them for a long and have some great things to say about them.
First and foremost, they prevent me from scratching the pimple and making it worse. Also, keep that precious little item clean by preventing dirt and germs from accumulating. Number two, they suck out the pus and debris from your pimple over the course of a single night. In the middle of the night!!
What is the mechanism behind it? All you have to do now is wash your face and hands as normal. Choose a patch size that fits the whole pimple region, with the center of the acne meeting the center of the patch. They should be applied on totally dry skin. Allow them to sit for a minimum of 24 hours, or until the patch is opaque. (Because that’s when you’ll know the patch has absorbed all of the contaminants.)
Isn’t it thrilling?
Acne prevention measures:
1. At all costs, keep your hands away from your face.
2. Create a minimal yet effective salicylic acid skincare regimen. A face cleanser and moisturizer, in particular. CeraVe SA Cleanser and Neutrogena Hydroboost Moisturizer are two of my most trusted products.
3. Do not overdry your pimples since this may result in the formation of spots and scars, which I am sure you do not want.
4. Avoid using oil-based products since they might aggravate your skin.
5. Don’t employ every tactic you know simply to make anything go away.
